In my cupboard...

Like most Californians, I have to have tortillas in the house. I simply cannot imagine being without them. And the other day I ran across a ‘new’ tortilla from Tia Rosa, the giant among the tortilla makers. They are called Tia Rosa Caseras Flour Tortillas; and they are quite good. A different texture and thinner. You would swear they are handmade…

I found those tortillas this weekend and while trying to find out what "Caseras" means I came across your blog.

I did notice that they seem to be similar to the texture of frozen chimichanga type burritos, but other than that I haven't been able to find the meaning or translation of the word "Caseras" other than the babelfish translation which is "caretakers" but if I had to guess I think it really means "homemade".

Whatever it means, they're the best I've had in a long time and I've already had them with several things including a pepper salami and cheddar cheese wrap that I had as a late night snack even though my dog Piper insisted on sharing it with me and I believe my share was definitely less than half. :)
